Ok, so Jessie J stumped me, but I'm going to pretend I have a real excuse

Yeah, like... um... I came down with some sort of mysterious jungle disease that, for unknown reasons that eluded several top medical professionals, flared up whenever I got near electrical equipment? Seriously, it's been a bitch these last few weeks - there's only so much reading by candlelight that one can do before they start to go mad and a little squinty.

On the plus side, I shall hopefully be back on the mission soon enough. My other excuse being that I have recently discovered the world of computerised recording on a level that far exceeds my previous knowledge of such thing. And it's all shiny and new and exciting - I will, however, get pretty sick of it soon enough Im sure, so blogging will reccomence as soon as I dig out the Jessie review and finish off the last few lines (I know, I so should've done that already. I'm a slacker. Get over it.)

As for new musical adventures, I will be documenting my efforts into the creation side of things on my shiny new myspace which is right there for clicking. woot.

Roll up! Roll up! Excuses going cheap! 10 for a penny!

So... I've spent the last few days, -Ok, ok - maybe a week? ... 10 days? Really? Wow...
That's a huge amount of slacking even by my usual lazy standards...
Oh well, spilt milk, no use crying: you know the deal.

Anyway, since I last blogged here I seem to have come down with something rather nasty that has me in a perpetual seeming state of either feeling sick & grouchy or as if the slightest whisper will cause the churning migraine in my head to explode my brains from the inside out. Basically, all together I've been feeling like shit aside from being at one with my duvet, hence the lack of writings. Regaredless of said illness, 10 days is long enough to stay away from the computer and, even though I was supposed to be getting back to bed about half an hour or so ago, I couldn't seem to keep myself away from the dreaded machine any longer when the sudden urge to write hit me. Since I actually had what I thought was a long lost urge, I figured I could forego an early night (for me anyway...) in aid of keeping caught up on my attempts to get back into writing.

However, given my ill and currently rather ratty state, I have decided to keep it simple this time around and to not waste an extra half hour figuring out some new system to pick a newbie of the day with as well as taking screenshots of the process, I've decided to review something of my own choosing for today.

I have also decided that I will type it up in a separate entry. That way, when I look back in the months to come in my ever-so-typical nostalgic fashion, I can momentarily delude myself into thinking that I made more of an effort this month than reality will display upon a closer look. At the moment, I'll take it where ever I can get it.

Album #4

After the horror that was Nadia Oh, I have decided to lift my spirits by searching for something Metric related. Using the same system as before, here's my chain.

Nadia Oh - Hot Like Wow

Album #3

For some reason, today feels like it should be a pop inspired day, and due to my putting the last album on hold, I thought it only fitting to start a new thread of musical newness. And for the start position, it has to be Katy Perry.

I would like to say at this moment that I am very thankful to have skipped past Lady GaGa, yet rather dismayed that I shall spend the next hour or so listening to some sort of freakish descendant of hers on the musical food chain... But I cannot judge until I have listened, but I stand by my initial fear.

Ok, onto the list - Skipping through Katy Perry > Lady GaGa > Simon Curtis > Dangerous Muse > Electrovamp > Nadia Oh....

Nudge - Elaborate Devices for Filtering Crisis

Has been postponed until later, from what I recall of the first few tracks that I listened to before abandoning music for such feats as cleaning the kitchen and cooking a huge wok full of creamy pasta (in that order oddly enough), I seem to recall liking it enough to put it on hold and listen to it when my brain wasn't in a post-coma mushy state and largely focussed on the grumbling coming from my stomach.

So, I shall leave this here to update later and move swiftly on to the next choice instead.

Album #2

Ok, lets see what we come up with this time... Hopefully the Topaz Rags will lead me to something a little less coma inspiring...

Topaz Rags - Capricorn Born Again

Mission Statement

Using a combination of websites that I have stolen from this list here, I will hereby be spending my days listening to one new album a day that I have never heard before, in its entirety, regardless of whether or not I hate or love it. I will then be documenting my thoughts here.

Today I will be using Tuneglue and starting with the prompt 'The National'. Not sure why, but they were the first thing to pop into my head. So, lets see where this takes me. I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to work this quite yet; whether I am going to just listen to the first album I see, or determine some sort of 'number of jumps' system from the original artist. I suppose I'll figure it out as I go along.

Hmm.. Already I am finding it difficult to keep this random, I keep being draw to certain names which, in a way, eliminates the nature of randomness. or at least will do over time when my band names start sharing some sort of strange underlying theme. I need some way of cutting myself out of the decision making process entirely. I need a system.

Ok, here goes. Based on this random word generator, I have been given the word 'Sight'.
Sight has 5 letters, so that will be my base number.
5 jumps from the original artist, jumping to artist at the direct left on each jump.
That'll do for now.

Ok, here's what I have:
Full tree of results.

My final tree of choices.

Arguably, I could go with either Topaz Rags or Sore Eros seeing as they are both on the left, as per my previous ruling. So I'm gonna make a judgement call here and just go with the top one. Topaz Rags it is.

So, here goes, let the listening commence!
